This 14th floor, north-facing apartment in Sydney’s King Cross required opening up to better circulation and sense of flow. Hence the newly configured generosity of the curved entry sweeps through to the kitchen, dining and living space. To increase overall floor height by 300mm the existing ceiling was removed to expose the original concrete slab and the visible sprinkler pipes - painted along with the concrete - and re-ordered electrical cabling gave the apartment a light industrial feeling. The position of the existing bathrooms and kitchen, sited at the centre of the apartment, were retained but redesigned with re-configured storage providing extra amenity. Curved timber panel walls, shaped stone, extensive joinery and new flooring from Eurostyle Floors provides a consistent, warm palette into which contemporary furniture pieces and bold artworks sit perfectly.
